Lagan Building Contractors Deliver NI’s Largest Speculative Office Development in a Decade

03 Oct 2017

Lagan Building Contractors has completed work on its City Quays 2, Grade A Office development. The nine-storey, £22m office, which can accommodate up to 1,000 workers, is the largest speculative office to be developed in Northern Ireland since the property crash.

Built by Lagan Building Contractors in under 18-months the 124,000 sq ft office has been designed to meet the highest international sustainability accreditation, BREEAM Excellent.

“City Quays 2 is the only speculative office development to be completed in Northern Ireland this year and is the largest speculative build since before the property crash of 2007. Based upon the level of enquiries City Quays continues to generate, we remain confident about the level of demand for high-end office space in the city centre. Since Belfast Harbour began marketing City Quays, interest has been consistently strong, particularly from North America, GB and locally. A number of parties have already made initial approaches about City Quays 3 which, depending upon planning and demand, should begin construction early next year.”
Roy Adair, Belfast Harbour’s CEO

Materials used in the construction of City Quays 2 included 700 tonnes of structural steel, 3,500 m3 of concrete and over 5,000 m2 of glazing. The project also supported 600 construction jobs.

“Lagan Building Contractors are proud to have successfully delivered this prestigious BREEAM Excellent Grade A office development for our client, Belfast Harbour, to facilitate the local business community in Northern Ireland.”
Jon Adams, Managing Director of Lagan Building Contractors
